itemprop=\"text\" ><p>President Bailey visits Laurel Field at Raider Stadium for this month\u2019s video message, focusing on the upcoming 91²Ö¿âCommencement. \u201cIt\u2019s always our best day of the year, where we celebrate our graduates with their families and the community,\u201d President Bailey says. \u201cWe get to see students achieve their educational dreams.\u201d He acknowledges that this year\u2019s graduation ceremony comes at an unsettled time. \u201cThere are a lot of questions about the future of higher education \u2013 not just at SOU, but across the state and around the country,\u201d he says. But he emphasizes that 91²Ö¿âis stable, operational and will continue serving students and the southern Oregon region for many years. The university\u2019s current transformation requires reducing SOU\u2019s $100 million annual budget by about a fifth, but President Bailey is leading an effort to gain positive results from that painful process. \u201cYou are going to start to see some plans for how we are going to do that, and likely become a role model \u2013 really for the rest of the state, and probably for the rest of the country \u2013 in terms of regional public universities,\u201d he says. \u201cThere is a path for SOU, and one worth fighting for.\u201d He tells viewers that there are \u201cso many ways\u201d
